YouTube, a video streaming service, has strictly banned downloads for a period of time. But that is also a story of the past. Currently, it is a function for Premium members who are paid plans, but by downloading the video with the mobile YouTube app for iOS and Android, the function that can be watched offline is officially provided.
This feature is now available as an experimental feature for desktops (PCs and Macs) as well. The Android information site Android Police was the first to report this new feature. Initially, it seems that it was offered only to Premium members in India and France, but at the time of writing the article, it is also available in Japan. To actually use the download function, access "Try new features in beta" (Premium members only page) and turn on "Download videos from browser".
However, you can only use one new experimental feature at a time, so if you're using picture-in-picture for iOS, you'll have to turn it off. When this feature is enabled, a download button will appear right next to "Share" below the video you are watching. You can download the video and save it to your offline YouTube library. The resolution of the video that can be downloaded is from 144p to 1080p, and at the time of writing the article, there seems to be no particular size limit (as long as the free space of the internal storage of the PC or Mac allows). However, the saved file is treated as an offline viewing within the YouTube website or official app. For example, it is not possible to export to a video in another format. It also has the condition that the device is connected to the Internet at least once every 30 days.
However, it can be conveniently used when it is necessary to take a notebook PC or MacBook to a place where there is no internet environment, for example, when traveling, or when there is a video you want to watch but it is unlikely that you can prepare a high-speed line. that's right.
