I wear it almost 24/7.
HUAWEI's smart watch "HUAWEI Watch Fit" released on October 2, 2020. When it was announced in September 2020, I thought, "This is it!" I've been wearing it on my wrist since the day it was released.
Until then, I wasn't that interested in smartwatches (rather than collecting cheap Casios), but I really like the HUAWEI Watch Fit. I would like to tell you what kind of smartwatch it is and what I like about it.
HUAWEI Watch Fit
What is this? : HUAWEI's middle-class smartwatch.
Price: 15,180 yen (tax included, HUAWEI STORE price).
Things I like: Cute. light. Battery life is good. It has all the features you need. Affordable price.
Where it's not: The type of face. Proprietary charging terminal.
The decisive factor for purchasing was the cuteness and long battery life
I used the original Apple Watch for about 3 years until it broke down, but since then I have been using cheap smart watches for around 5,000 yen. I quickly got bored with fitness trackers and spent the last few years wearing a regular watch. Simply put, I didn't show much interest in smartwatches.
I used the original Apple Watch for a while, but the battery didn't last. I had to charge it every night, so I kept forgetting to put it on after I took it off my wrist, and it didn't feel like something I always wore.
After that, the smartwatch I used for a short time was a bracelet type with a vertically long screen, which was difficult to see and had poor operability.
The battery lasts for days, the operability and visibility are good, and the design is good. There are such smart watches, but they are expensive. I don't want to spend 50,000 yen on a smartwatch (because I think it's a kind of consumable item when it's rechargeable). That's how I lost interest in the smartwatch itself.
At that time, the HUAWEI Watch Fit appeared as a surprise. It costs about 15,000 yen, and the 1.64-inch organic EL display seems to be easy to touch, and the battery that lasts for 10 days on a full charge is also attractive. The coloring of the silicon belt is also pop, and I thought that the lightness of 34g including the belt was also good, so I bought it. It took a few days from ordering to arrival, but I remember being impatient. It may be the first time since Ricoh's compact digital camera "GX100" that I've reserved and bought a new product (excluding the iPhone).
All the functions you need
HUAWEI Watch Fit is equipped with basic functions such as a heart rate monitor, stress monitor, pedometer, calorie consumption display, sleep monitor, and various notifications. I'm here. A blood oxygen level measurement function is scheduled to be added from late January (not installed at the time of writing the manuscript). These can be checked from the HUAWEI Watch Fit, and can also be checked with the smartphone app "HUAWEI Health Care" (iOS, Android).
In addition, since the main unit has a built-in GPS, it can track routes and measure speed and distance when walking or running. etc. can also be done.
I use a sleep monitor every day. This is very interesting.
In addition to displaying bedtime, wake-up time, and sleep time, you can also check the cycle of deep sleep, light sleep, REM sleep, and breathing status by enabling "HUAWEI TruSleep", which allows detailed monitoring. I will give it to you. This is kind of funny, so I check it every day. You seem to be a light sleeper, and your score on the Continuity of Deep Sleep is always low. I know that too.
As for other functions, the pedometer, calorie consumption, heart rate sensor, stress sensor, etc. are automatically taken, but I don't see it much. It's also displayed on the app, so I see it, but I don't look at it as closely as the sleep monitor. I don't worry about myself that much, maybe. It's become so commonplace that I'm no longer conscious of it. I've confirmed that I've walked 5,000 steps today, or that I've only taken 200 steps, but that's why I don't even try to exercise. It's a question of my humanity.
As a basic function, it can be said that it is complete, so I have no complaints. However, since there is no music-related function, it does not match those who consider it as a standard. I'm not going to listen to music on my smartwatch, so no problem.
I did the "fitness course" first...
In addition to the basic functions mentioned above, the HUAWEI Watch Fit has a function called "fitness course". There are 12 workout menus built into the smart watch that can be completed in 3 to 18 minutes.
The world has entered the era of telework, and I hear many people worrying about the lack of exercise, but I am a home worker who has been working at home for over 20 years. Lack of exercise has become the norm (when I look at the pedometer on the HUAWEI Watch Fit, there are times when I take about 200 steps a day).
Huawei Watch Fit has a function that encourages you to exercise when you are sitting in a chair for a certain period of time. Sometimes this fitness course allows for light exercise. It's a simple thing like turning your shoulders and stretching your legs, but at first I thought I could do it for about 3 minutes, so I did it. But I won't be doing it soon... Well this is just me being lazy.
But it's pretty kind of you to tell me specifically what kind of exercise I should do. There are things that you can take a little breather to a menu with a relatively high load. You can choose to exercise yourself, so if you do it in rotation, you may become macho (although you may not).
In addition, about 100 sports modes such as running, cycling, swimming, boxing, dancing, and kendo are also installed. I'm going to exercise quite a lot! It may be suitable for those who say. I'm not the type to exercise with enthusiasm, so I wonder if I'll use this feature... No, maybe I should use it.
It's so light that you forget you're wearing it
It's something you wear every day, so it's better not to be too heavy if possible. HUAWEI Watch Fit is 34g including the band and 10.7mm thick, slim and light. To be honest, I don't mind wearing it all day long. Sometimes I forget to take it off when I take a bath, but it's 5 ATM water resistant so it's no problem.
If there is a request, it would be nice if the band could be changed. Apparently the band can be removed, but the band itself is not on sale. I think it would be fun if there were more colors and materials to choose from, so you could change it according to your mood.
It's really nice not to have to worry about charging
When you actually use it, it's really nice that you don't have to charge it every day. When GPS is turned off and the constant light is turned off, a full charge lasts for 10 days, but in my usage, it was about a week and about 20% remained. About once a week, when I notice it, I charge it. It feels great not having to worry about charging so often.
I also like that it charges fast. If you let it charge for an hour, it will be almost fully charged. It also supports quick charging that can be used for a day with 5 minutes of charging.
However, there are some concerns about charging. That is the point that the charging terminal has a unique shape. It is magnetic and charges with a dedicated cable with two contacts. It's not USB-C or microUSB, so if this cable breaks, I'm worried.
In the unlikely event that the cable breaks down or is lost, you can contact HUAWEI support to purchase one, but a more easily available cable is more reassuring.
The sense of the dial...
I have linked it with my iPhone, but when it was first released, the HUAWEI Watch Fit could not install additional dials on the iPhone. But it soon became available to install from the Huawei Health app.
When I was excited and looked at the dial gallery... yeah, I feel like there are a lot of unique designs. I've downloaded and used a few good ones, but I haven't come across one that says, "This is it!"
Also, there aren't many watch faces that allow you to customize the display items yourself. I think time will settle this issue.
Is there any difference between before and after?
I was so happy right after I bought it that I often did 3-minute exercises in the fitness course, but now I don't even do that anymore. I didn't buy it for that purpose, but because I wanted a smartwatch that I could wear all the time.
On the contrary, I feel uncomfortable without HUAWEI Watch Fit on my left wrist. It's like feeling uneasy if you don't have a smartphone when you go out.
I don't use it for anything in particular, but I wear it all the time, and I feel uneasy when I don't wear it. That's what has changed in the last four months. I feel like my smartwatch has become a part of me.
Perfect for using a light smartwatch
The HUAWEI Watch Fit can of course be used as a partner when playing sports, but it is not suitable for extremely heavy applications as it does not have shock resistance. not. If anything, it's perfect for everyday use + α.
It has a pop design, a thin and lightweight body, and although there are few items that can be customized, the basic performance is complete and you can start using it easily.
Originally, what I wanted to do with a smartwatch was check the clock + receive notifications + sleep monitor. Ordinary wristwatches are a bit unsatisfactory, but you don't need expensive and highly functional smartwatches. However, the HUAWEI Watch Fit was perfect for my needs, such as the battery running out quickly and the visibility and operability being poor.
I don't want a serious smartwatch, but I hate cheap and clunky smartwatches. This smartwatch is perfect for those people.
Summary
・You can choose from 4 colors.
・A design that can be used by both men and women.
・The display can be lit all the time (although the battery life will be a little shorter).
・I feel that static electricity is less likely to occur thanks to the silicon band.
