This is Hashimoto, a Starts Toronto overseas training trainee. I can't wait for Toronto to declare a state of emergency and lift the ban on foreigners entering the country, but how are you all doing? This time, as an extra edition, I would like to introduce my return report after returning to Japan via Vancouver on June 20th.
Air Canada Hygiene Kit
Pearson Airport to Vancouver
A police car is parked in front of the airport to keep watch. After the automatic door at the airport entrance, the person seeing you off cannot enter. A “forehead scan” thermal measurement is taken at the time of baggage inspection. Masks are required onboard. After takeoff, water, disinfectant, masks, wipes, and gloves will be distributed.
Arrival at Narita Airport
Even after the plane arrives, there will be an announcement to wait until the PCR test is crowded. You are instructed to keep your distance when moving.
Move to the inspection site and in units of 10 to 20 people
Repeat moving and waiting step by step.
*There is stair movement (down). If you want to go to the restroom while waiting, you need to ask the staff.
PCR test
One by one. It takes less than 10 minutes from the interview to the completion of the PCR test. ①Interview: You will be asked questions based on the “questionnaire about isolation” that you filled out on the plane. No need to show your passport.
After receiving questions and explanations such as
, sign the document (LINE registration for physical condition questionnaire, sign proof that you received an explanation about isolation). ② Measure the heat with a forehead scan and receive a test kit.
(3) PCR test: The mucous membrane at the back of the nose was collected by one medical worker. It feels like a flu test that hits the back of your nose. It ends in about 10 seconds.
*Note: The quarantine period must be 14 days from the next day, starting from the day you arrive in Japan.
In my case, it will arrive on June 21st (Sun), so it will be from the 22nd (Mon) to 00:00 on July 6th (Mon).
*If you cannot secure your home or a place where you can isolate yourself, you will have to wait at a hotel designated by the government for 2-3 days until the PCR test result is negative.
After the PCR test
You will be asked about your future plans, and will be divided into two options: (1) home (with pick-up) or (2) going to a hotel designated by the government.
A staff member accompanies about 6 people to move and complete the receipt of checked baggage, immigration procedures, and receipt of stamps on the unaccompanied baggage declaration form.
①The people at home disbanded when they left the arrival gate. If a family member is picking you up from your home, the person in charge will confirm your name and the license plate number of the car that will pick you up.
②People going to the hotel designated by the government will be guided directly to the cardboard booth. There is no set departure time for the bus to the hotel, so the wait will be about 1 to 2 hours because the number of people will be gathered to a certain extent before moving. About 20 people were waiting when I arrived, but eventually it increased to about 60 people.
Narita Airport cardboard booth. Tea and bananas are placed in front of you and you can take them freely.
Cardboard booth in my lot
While waiting, a staff member will accompany each passenger outside the gate and guide them through procedures such as applying for unaccompanied baggage and mobile phone procedures.
The destination of the designated hotel depends on the day. I was waiting at "Tokyo Bay Tokyu Hotel Urayasu" in Shin-Urayasu.
To the waiting area
Summary: A waiting facility rented by the government. In principle, stay for 2 nights and 3 days until the results of the PCR test are available. In principle, it is not possible to leave the room. For health reasons, smoking and drinking are prohibited. Three lunches are served on the doorknob at 8:00 am, 12:00 noon, and 6:00 pm.
For questions, problems, and health reports, call the management office instead of the hotel staff.
Admission is at 18:00 on Sunday, June 21st. After 13:00 on the following day, June 22nd (Monday), the secretariat will contact you by extension phone with the result of "negative". I submitted my email address at the time of the test, and I also received a negative result by email.
Declare one of the methods of leaving.
①On June 23 (Tuesday) around 10:00 am, take the bus bound for Haneda Airport, Narita Airport, and nearby hotels.
②Tuesday, June 23, between 13:00 and 15:00.
