Increased needs for enhanced security even for SMBs
Cyber-attacks continue to increase and evolve, and work styles are rapidly changing due to the spread of the new coronavirus. Even SMBs, who used to rely solely on antivirus and firewalls for security, can no longer remain indifferent to these topics.
Mr. Kishi points out that the need for enhanced security is increasing in the SMB market as well, and that there are three main reasons for this.
First, the spread of cloud applications. Until now, on-premises applications were often used, but SMBs are now actively using cloud applications, and the data they handle is inevitably going out via the Internet.
The second point is that the value of information assets, including the data and personal information handled in this way, is increasing. Furthermore, penalties and rules for information leaks are becoming stricter both in Japan and overseas. Finally, there is the diversification of the network environment. Due to the epidemic of the new coronavirus, the office has been reviewed, remote work has increased, and access from outside the company has increased.
Mr. Kishi says that these three points are factors in the growing need for enhanced security in SMBs, where there was not much interest in security in the past.
